Key West Paradise

Dream:

Both of my trips to Key West involved a stay at Southernmost on the Beach.  The hotel is right on the Ocean (every room has some kind of view) and the hotel is on the quiet end of Duval Street.  Staying here you’re never more than a 15 minute walk from the party, or a 2 minute walk from the greatest pool bar on the island.  Also, fantastic pina coladas (my tropical vacation drink of choice).

Dine:

Fantastic meals start to finish.  Honestly, Trip Advisor Forums are where I get the best recommendations, I highly recommend it if there’s something distinct you’re looking for and want local input.

For Cuban.  El Siboney.  900 Catherine Street.  Key West, FL.

For Tapas.  Santiago’s Bodega.  207 Petronia Street.  Key West, FL.

For Happy Hour.  Alonzo’s Oyster Bar.  700 Front Street.  Key West, FL.

For a Fish Sandwich.  BO’s Fish Wagon.  801 Caroline Street.  Key West, FL.

For Breakfast.  Blue Heaven.  729 Thomas Street.  Key West, FL.

For Dessert.  Better than Sex.  411 Petronia Street.  Key West, FL.

Drift:

Snorkeling and Sunset Cruise with Fury Water Adventures, they PACK the boat so if you’re crowd adverse stay away.  But the Fury employees are great and the catamaran top notch.  In the end you want a great view of the sunset at least once on your trip.

If you like historic context, I’d also recommend a Ghost Tour, it’s less cheese and more history than you’d think.  Granted, there’s a lot of cheese.

Drink on Duval, all night.  Smallest Bar will forever hold a piece of my heart.

Key West is not a destination to make plans, just do what you’re inclined.  Sleep in, start your day in the pool with a frosty drink, there’s no pressure… just relaxation.
